Coombes Aquatics 40th Membrane Pool Transformation.
Refurbishing a tired, well-used, favourite, public swimming pool to the applaud of many, is no mean feat, and the Jellie Park Recreation and Sports Centre's team have been patiently waiting for this very special swimming pool transformation.
Pools are pools, however, every Aquatic Centres bathers needs are different. Jellie Park's indoor pool is used in the early hours of the morning by a variety of competitive and keep-fit swimmers of all ages, it then morphs into the centre's aquatic exercise program, before transforming into the centre's learn to swim programme for preschoolers, primary aged school children and then mini squad lessons and specialist training sessions. The average day at Jellie's indoor pool ends with another bunch of dedicated evening trainers and you may even spot some noted athletes, from a variety of sports, running up and down the 25m pool as part of their strength and conditioning programmes.
Taking into consideration all the different bather's needs and the fact this 25m x 18m water space is both a training and learn to swim pool - different membrane underlays were installed to the comfort of swimmers, aquacise bathers, little feet, and the knees of the super patient swim instructors. To achieve this a felted underlay was laid in the main training area and a super thick, highly resilient, cushioned, impact underlay was laid in the learn to swim and aquacise area.
Coombes Aquatics have updated the pool tanks water circulation system, overflow channel, underfloor jets, drains, retiled the entranceway steps, pool edge, and used the ELBE reinforced blue line membrane with black wall targets and lane markings to complete the swimming pool's metamorphosis and provide the coveted 10-year watertight warranty.
