If you would like to know a little more about the 5 -star hotel swimming pool treatment. Mike Higgins, his Wellington team, and a couple of South Island Coombes recruits joined Mike in Wellington, to refurbish, the tired, leaky, old fiberglass over concrete swimming pool and returned it back to the stunning art house indoor lap pool, it was previously renowned for.
This meant, pealing off the old fiberglass tank hull and upgrading the pool tank water services to meet the NZ Swimming Pool Design code guidelines, and ensuring an efficient and effective water circulation system. The pool tank was then prepared for membrane and lined in felt for extra underfoot bather comfort. The stainless steel ladders were upcycled by manufacturing bespoke membrane-compatible plates.
The challenge was the pool tank water hues had to reflect and complement the Art Deco style pool house wall murals, and a special shipment of ELBE Adriatic Blue (dark blue) membrane was shipped in from Germany with stunning results. A local tiler was contracted to complete the mosaic waterline tiles and the finished product speaks for itself.
In 2018 Mike and his team completed the Hotels poolside Scandinavian-styled Sauna renovation which looks perfect poolside and exudes the 5-star lux wellness sauna and water space retreat.
